Americium is toxic and a hazard to health and should not be ingested whatsoever. I am absolutely stunned that that website is purporting that swallowing Americium is OK . It is absolutely astonishing. I am seriously stuck for words.

I don't know if you are simply trying to find websites that say eating Americium is OK just to prove me wrong. I honestly don't give a toss about that. I do give a toss about the correct factual information being out there though.
If you want to handle it as a piece of chocolate then go ahead, fill your boots. But, I still advise to handle it as very toxic.

Regarding the article from the Forest Service, I 'll bet their assessment is based on the shielded 'ceramic chamber' being swallowed intact and eventually passing through with the Am241 staying inside the chamber. So possibly not entirely wrong given that assumption. I don't think it's acurate in a liquid acid gurgling bath, it seems way too optimistic. Those of us that take the risk of cracking open that little chamber though need to be very careful.
